Meh.

I don't see it happening for a race or anything. It starts off way too slow and never has a part where you can get really into it.

The rhythm is akward, and theres no real central theme of it other hten the style if instruments your using.

You switch sounds alot, which is normally good, but theres not enough familar patterns or anything go along for the lisatener to grab ahold onto and make it feel like the song is goin anywhere.

The deep bass drum doesn't feel like its timed correctly.

Personally I think you could have made something good with some of the stuf you have in here, but you put it together akwardly.

IF i were to sum up the song in one word, it would be akward.

I'm not trying to sound like a dick or anything, but I kinda meant for it to not sound "right". I wrote it in a synthetic key based off a Frigian mode. I wrote it in 4/4 but gave it an almost 9/8 drumbeat... which is a triplet meter. It's not supposed to sound proper, It's really what i was going for. But i completely understand what you mean.

thanks for the feed, man!

Good inrto.

I really liked the intro, but i think that the cymbols are a bit overpowering the majority of the time.

I also enjyo the main theme, but the random high notes dont seem to do much other then annoy me.

I'm not feelin it

Aside from the mario sounds, like the coin jumping and his voice, you woudln't know it was a mario refrence, until around 2:00

Also, it doesn't really sound like a riverside, it sounds more like a city scape or a carnival at night or something.

Not really feelin this song, sorry bro.

Foraum responds:

Ouch! if you're not feeling it, you're not feeling it, it's your opinion and I respect that.
But I have to set a couple things straight.

First: This is not a mario remix, my intention was to use mario elements (most notably Super Mario Bros. 1) and remix the song Riverside with "some" of them. (shell, jump, overworld song elements, game over song elements, voice mario64)
Think mashup.

Second: Riverside is a song by Sidney Samson, a dutch "dirty" house producer. He used a sample from the movie Juice where actor Tupac Shakur says "Riverside, motherf$%*er" before he executes his first victim. So the title is based on that. I used this sample too but pitch-stretched it.

Guess I'm a little surprised you gave this a 3 based on those arguments. Maybe listen to the original, it's on youtube.

Thanks anyway
Foraum

Decent, but

It's a good little loop for the purpose, but the actual looping point itself isnt very smooth.

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

I think its fine. Sometimes the NG player makes a poor transition, depending on connection and the like.

It does the job

Definitly not a song for listening, but it would be very appropriate in a game scenario where there was some monolauge from a villian, or one was lost in a creepy area etc. It does what its supposed to do.
